Canadian Arts - Image Gallery

This is a link to the virtual museums of Canada. It has Canadian contributions to art, history, science etc. It also has a teacher link with lesson plans as well. This one has different images so it shows art work of the Group of Seven for people like me who are pretty ignorant of Canadian artist.

This is a great website Linda! In addition to the lesson plans that you mentioned, there are online games that students could play to test their knowledge of Canadian art and postcards that students could send via email to family and friends, penpals, other students or classes in the school or even to other staff members. Students can even create their own personal museum! I did not have a chance to create my own museum but I definitely added this site to my list of favorites. The site requires that you register before creating your personal museum but all you need to submit is a name and password so I am pretty sure you would still be able to do this activity with your students as long as enough time was allocated to include the registeration process. This would be a great way to integrate technology into the Fine Arts curriculum (as well as other subject areas as well).

I had a chance to review this website. I agree with Sherri that it would be a great way for students to be introduced to Canadian art. Most classes have regular computer time; sometimes they have periods where the teacher has nothing planned, and I think some time exploring this site would help students gain an appreciation for Canadian Art and for their country.
